This is an adorable Owl Pillow. He's just waiting for you to adopt him and give him a happy home. So what are you waiting for? His name is Oscar, but he can be re-named if you like. He's still a baby and very impressionable.
He is a dye monoprint on cream cotton muslim that was appliqued to a yellow, rattan basket-weave print. He was then sewed into a decorative pillow. Two tiny pearl buttons were sewed on to the whites of his eyes which ads a nice reflective detail.
Dye monoprints are a special process where I paint dyes on to a screen like a watercolor, wait for it to completely dry, and then print it with a thickener. They are very time consuming yet the results are are worth the wait! These pillows look great on a couch or a special chair. They also look great on beds or an a dresser or bookshelf.
